OG-Con 2009A Convention for the seldom played "Other Games"!October 23-25, 2009 in Roselle Park, NJThe Central NJ Gaming Group is pleased to announce OG-Con, our convention for other games! We will be hosting a weekend of games we rarely get to play in the New Jersey Gaming Group, including Minis, Card and non-4E Roleplaying Games! There is no general admission fee, but each event has a cost based on its prize support. The main purpose of this convention is to let everyone try out new games: all of these games are teaching sessions as well as prize tournaments (everyone walks away with a prize, regardless of how you finish). Gaming starts at 7pm, but feel free to show up as early as 6pm for practice gaming. Registering: Just post that you are coming, we'll be glad to have you over. Also indicate which game you want to play, Magic or A&A Minis. :) Friday's Games: Magic: the Gathering Starters Event (Friday, 7pm-11pm): We will be running a Type 2 Magic: the Gathering Tournament. Everyone will be given a single color starter deck (your choice on colors). Everyone walks away with a foil promo card, but winners get better cards. Other prizes include deck boxes and promos. Cost is $5 per player. Winner will receive a trophy and recognition on our website. Axis and Allies Miniatures (Friday, 7pm-11pm): 3 Round, 100 Point Tournament. Bring your own army, or borrow one of ours. Axis and Allies is the game of World War II Combat, where you command an army from historical units and blow your opponent up. If you know how to play and want to build an army, contact Jeremy for build rules- or just show up and use one of my premade armies. Cost is $3 per player. Everyone will receive some Axis and Allies minis to build their next army with. The winner will receive a trophy and recognition on our website. Saturday's Games: Pathfinder Society (Saturday 10am-4pm): We will be running Pathfinder Society Scenario #1: Silent Tide, which is sort of the Pathfinder equivalent of Living Forgotten Realms (a living campaign). Pathfinder is a variant of D&D 3.5, and love by many. Cost is $5, which includes a free D&D Mini for your character. Here is the adventure background: "When strange reports of misty undead spread through Absalom, you and your fellow Pathfinders are dispatched to the half-drowned district of Puddles. Notoriously rough, the drooling addicts, flesh panderers, and quick-handed knifers of Puddles are the least of your worries. The night's tide brings with it an ancient armada of some long-forgotten war and you are the only thing between their mist-shrouded ghost fleet and Absalom's utter oblivion." Star Wars Saga RPG (Saturday 5pm-10pm): We will be running the Dawn of Defiance campaign, which is the Star Wars equivalent of LFR. Set in the months after the events of Revenge of the Sith, the adventures in the Dawn of Defiance campaign are designed to provide players and GMs with the iconic Star Wars Roleplaying Game experience, set against the backdrop of the tyranny of the Galactic Empire. We have premade characters, or you can create your own. Cost is $5, which includes a free Star Wars mini for your character. Sunday's
Games: Marvel / Standard Heroscape: (Sunday 9am-1pm) Heroscape is a fun boardgame where supernatural armies attack each other in a very fun system. We will be playing 1-on-1 tournaments so people can't gang up on each other. Build your own 500 point army, or borrow one of mine. Armies are first-come-first-choice from my stuff. All heroscape themes are legal, including Marvel and normal starters / expansion. Players are invited to bring tiles to build their own combat landscape, as we will be using multiple maps. Cost is $5 which includes... something from Wizards (they are sending me support, but I don't know what it is). Winner also gets a trophy, and recognition on our website. Pay for any 2 of Sunday's Minis Games and play the third for free. Star Wars Miniatures (Sunday 1:30pm-5:30pm): Choose your favorite faction: Rebels, Imperials, Clones, Bounty Hunters, Mandalorians or maybe something from the fringe of society- and lead a squad of soldiers to battle on a space ship or planet surface! We will be running a standard Star Wars minis skirmish scenario, and everyone will be able to build an army of 125 points or borrow one of my premade armies. Cost is $5 which includes some Star Wars Minis to keep, a trophy and recognition on our website. Pay for any 2 of Sunday's Minis Games and play the third for free. Dungeons and Dragons Miniatures (Sunday 6:00pm-10pm): Finally, use those D&D Minis you have collected over the years for more than collecting dust! We will be running a three round tournament where you command a warband of several creatures using rules are pretty similar to 4E D&D. There is one big exception: instead of running a single character, you may be commanding a couple of dragons, or a band of Mind Flayers! Build a 100 point army or borrow one of mine. Cost is $5 which includes some Dungeons and Dragons Minis to keep, a trophy and recognition on our website. Pay for any 2 of Sunday's Minis Games and play the third for free.
